After Mom Saves 20 Kids From Burning Bus, Ellen Refuses To Accept She Lives Paycheck-To-Paycheck
In Sept 2016, Maryland driver Renita Smith was prepared her evening route, dropping off her last batch of students for the day. Everything was completely normal until Renita created it to her third stop and detected her stoplight began flashing.
Before she knew it, the students had smelled the smoke inside the back of the bus. By the time Renita picked up the phone to made call the transportation center, the bus had caught fire.
Using her quick-thinking and kind skills, Renita direct the kids who ranged in age from four to 10 into a single file line. Then, she safely got the students off the bus as a result of it burst into flames during a very residential neighborhood.
Renita, a single mother of two, didn’t stop there. She may need assumed all the students created it off the bus and left it at that. But instead, Renita suddenly met the burning vehicle and risked her own life to make sure there are no kids unaccounted for.
All twenty students were safe.
The student’s parents are, of course, forever grateful to Renita. She was sleet a city hero at multiple life rallies and award ceremonies.
“Its my job,” she says. “They’re my babies until I give them back to you.”
Ellen invited Renita to tell her painful story on her show. But once Ellen learned she lived paycheck-to-paycheck, she determined this was no approach for a hero to measure and lifts her children.
